Tomorrow…
I graduate with a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design. The graduation ceremony is at 6:00 p.m., and I just turned in my final project earlier this afternoon.
I can’t believe that two years has gone by already, and that I’m actually finished with school. What a long and crazy ride, but in all honesty it went so incredibly fast, and I loved every minute of it.

And so it all comes down to this:
I got a job.
A full-time, tenure track graphic design faculty job at Lakeland Community College in Wiloughby, Ohio.
I am so excited, and so happy that all of my hard work for the last two years is paying off. To be offered a job before graduation, well, it’s humbling and amazing and I’m just so damn proud of myself for achieving this.
I have so many people to thank for believing in me and supporting me… you know who you are!
And so begins the next chapter of my already amazing life… can’t wait!

Today is the day.
Today is my thesis defense at 1:00pm. I am nervous, but only because the rest of my academic design career rests upon three people deciding on whether or not I pass. I’m honestly not worried… I’ve worked my butt off for the past year and poured my heart and soul into this project. I have a pretty awesome (if I do say so myself) presentation that as I just practiced takes up about 30 minutes. I have three posters, a concept map and a clickable interface on an iPhone and iPod for the committee to look over and play with.
Yeah, I think I am pretty well prepared.
Now, if I can just kill these butterflies in my stomach and get my hands to stop shaking I’ll be in really good shape!

lamlux asked: Yes i'll see you at critical mass! going to be a cold one.
I plan on wearing MANY MANY layers. As long as it doesn’t rain I’ll be there for sure! :)

Thesis paper, draft 1, completed.
I am so happy and relieved that the first draft of my thesis paper is finished, and in the hands of my thesis committee for review. I can’t believe that I accomplished this feat, especially since it was due about a month sooner than I had originally thought. I am very happy with how it all came together and think that 63 pages is incredible. Had you asked me even two years ago if I thought I could write a 63 page paper I would have said that you were nuts… :)
Of course a good portion of that is imagery, but I am a designer after all, right?
It’s a gorgeous weekend weather-wise and I am going to take the next day and a half off. No school work, just catching up with my life, my husband, my kids and relaxing. Then next week will be focusing on my oral defense presentation and getting mentally prepared for two interviews at local colleges. Man, would it be amazing to graduate knowing I had a job somewhere… and a TEACHING job no less.

I think I’m done writing…
Wow, if that isn’t an amazing statement considering what I’ve been going through these last 12 months. 9200 words, give and take a few here and there.
Now I ask myself, am I really done? Can it be true? Why am I so nervous about this? I think that with research, one is never truly DONE writing, one just realizes that it’s time to stop. it’s time to finish up and tweak the deliverables, go back through and make sure it all sounds right, is grammatically correct and without any misspellings. It’s time to check my formatting against the requirements of the College of Communication and Information, and it’s time to make sure that every image I want to appear, appears, and is given the appropriate figure number and that it flows correctly within the text.
It’s time to go back and write the table of contents, add page numbers and put the appropriate surveys, survey results and images in the appendix.
But as far as the writing part goes? Well. I do really think I’m done.

ALMOST done with the interface designs and ready to create working prototypes. This being said, I also almost finished up my posters and just couldn’t wait to post them on my blog. The first two are done and the last one just needs the avatar interface window and a photo of the app “in action”. I’m super happy about these posters and glad that I took the time to design them.
